Abstract:
To improve fatigue strength to suppress generation of cracks on a surface due to repeated use.SOLUTION: A torsion bar 10 has a distribution in which the hardness in a cross-sectional direction is lower on a surface than in a center due to heat treatment. That is, a quenching depth extends to the center, which raises a yield point and improves fatigue strength. On the other hand, since the toughness of the surface is relatively higher than that of the center, cracks and the like due to repeated use are unlikely to occur. Also, since the hardness of the surface is relatively low toward the center, it is easy to perform anti-rotation processing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
