To provide a vibration damping device that prevents wear caused between a rolling chamber and a rolling element and is superior in vibration damping ability.
The torsional vibration damping device includes the rolling chamber 30 storing the rolling element 31 reciprocating relatively to a rotary member, wherein one of the interior surfaces of the rolling chamber 30 positioned on an outer side in a radial direction relative to the rotation center of the rotary member is set as a rolling surface 32 that is brought into contact with the rolling element so as to guide the rolling element. The torsional vibration damping device includes: a movable member 29 for pressing the rolling element 31 in a direction parallel to the rotation center axis line of the rolling element to press the rolling element against an interior wall surface of the interior surfaces of the rolling chamber 30 facing the rolling element 31 and then fix the rolling element 31; a pressing part 34 formed in a surface of the movable member 29 facing the rolling element so as to be brought into contact with part of a lateral surface on a side of the movable member of the rolling element 31; and a tilted receiving part 33 formed in the interior wall surface and tilting the rolling element 31 when the rolling element 31 is pressed thereon so that part of an outer periphery 35 of the rolling element is separated from the rolling surface 32.
