PURPOSE: To reduce the thickness and weight and improve the performance by constituting transparent substrates of a display panel and an input panel which contact each other by using one common substrate.

CONSTITUTION: Striped transparent electrodes 21 and 22 are formed on the surfaces of two transparent substrates orthogonally opposite each other to constitute the display panel 2, on which an input panel 1 which has striped electrodes 11 and 12 formed on the surfaces of two transparent substrates orthogonally opposite each other is combined. Then the transparent substrates of the display panel 2 and input panel 1 which contact each other are composed of one common substrate 10. The need for a substrate dedicated to the input panel 1 is eliminated, so the thickness is reduced correspondingly. Consequently, the touch input display element is reducible in price, thickness, and weight and improved in performance.
