PURPOSE: To provide a titled sleeve roll for a universal mill which has excellent wear resistance and toughness and prevents a fracture accident by welding and uniting an outside layer consisting of a high-chromium steel or iron material having a specific compsn. and an inside layer consisting of a special cast steel material having a specific compsn. to one body thereby forming the sleeve roll.
CONSTITUTION: The outside layer 6 consisting of the high-chromium cast iron material contg. 2.0W3.2wt% C, 0.2W1.5% Si, 0.4W1.5% Mn, ≤0.1% P, ≤0.1% S, 0.5W3.5% Ni, 8.0W25.0% Cr, 0.5W2.5% Mo and the balance substantially Fe and the inside layer 7 consisting of the cast steel material contg. 0.3W1.0% C, 0.2W 1.0% Si, 0.2W1.5% Mn, ≤0.1% P, ≤0.1% S, 0.5W3.0% Ni, 0.5W2.5% Cr, 0.1W 0.8% Mo and the balance substantially Fe are welded and united to form the tough sleeve rolls 3, 5 for rolling an H-beam. Such rolls are easily formed by casting successively the outside layer 6 and inside layer 7 having the above- mentioned compsn. by a centrifugal casting method, etc.
