Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable the transmission of torque in both directions, from an inner wheel to an outer wheel, and suppress heating due to the friction between both the wheels, by turning a cage and applying braking torque and by removing the braking torque to race the inner wheel. CONSTITUTION:Rollers 10 are interposed between an outer wheel 7 and the polygonal flat faces 9 of an inner wheel 8. One end of a cage 12 is secured on a drum 11 rotatably fitted on the inner wheel 8. The rollers 10 are retained in the openings 13 of the cage 12. A pair of pins 18 are secured in the inner wheel 8 between its flat facets 9 in such a manner that the pins are juxtaposed in the axial direction of the wheel and extend in the radial direction of the wheel. A pair of plate springs 19 are provided in the opening of the cage 12 on both the sides of the pair of pins 18. When braking torque acts from a belt 17 to the drum 11, the cage 12 is turned to such an angular position relative to the inner wheel 8 that the torque of the plate springs 19 is equal to the braking torque, thus displacing the rollers 10 to engage the inner wheel with the outer wheel 7.
