PURPOSE: To eliminate the following delay of a traverse moving system and to stably jump a large number of tracks at the time of jumping by a target number of tracks by repeating a jump of one track.

CONSTITUTION: A kick pulse is impressed upon a tracking actuator by a kick pulse generating circuit 15 to perform track-jumping. An average value of tracking error signals at the time when the kick pulse is not impressed is obtained and outputted to a control means 13 by a level detecting circuit 111. The size of a forcible feed pulse to be impressed upon a coarse moving motor 112 is changed to drive the coarse moving motor by the control means 113 in accordance with the size of a signal from the level detecting circuit 111. By this method, the jumping of a large number of tracks can be stabilized.
