To provide a series hybrid traction chain for giving extremely advanced acceleration control superior in responsiveness to a driver as well as enabling operation with no electric battery.
The traction chain for a series hybrid vehicle comprises an engine 10 for driving an alternator 11, an electric traction motor 21, an inverter for operating the electric traction motor at a torque set value CCset, a driver operated acceleration control device, an actuator 15 to act on the engine, and a control device 3 to which an engine operation model is loaded and to which a program is loaded for creating a pair (Rth/set'PPset) of set values for a speed Rth of the engine and for a position PP of the actuator 15 from the position of the acceleration control device. The control device 3 controls the position of the actuator in accordance with the set value PPset for the position of the actuator and calculates a torque set value CCset for the electric traction motor as the function of a deviation between the measured speed Rth and the set value Rth/set for the revolution speed of the engine.
