To extremely smoothly develop a transmission function and prolong service life without causing a trouble such as slippage by imparting an optimum preload according to a temperature change and operating conditions without adversely affecting the environment.
Transmission mechanism parts 51 and 52 having cages 34 and 37 having a plurality of balls 33 and 36 between inner rings 31 and 35 and outer rings 41 and 43 with raceway surfaces formed of angle grooves opened on their opposite sides and rollingly holding the balls 33 and 36 at intervals in the circumferential direction are installed in a housing 12. A preload adjusting mechanism 14 pressing the inner rings 31 and 35 and the outer rings 41 and 43 in the axial direction is installed to impart a preload to each of the transmission mechanism parts 51 and 52 by moving the raceway surfaces close to each other. The preload adjusting mechanism 14 comprises preload adjusting bolts 66 threaded into screw holes 67 in the housing 12, compression springs 68 compressed by compressed amounts according to the threaded amounts of the preload adjusting bolts 66, and a preload transmission tool 62 transmitting the elastic forces of the compression springs 68 to the transmission mechanisms 51 and 52.
