Abstract:

To provide a traction drive with an elastic ring having improved fatigue strength, and to provide its surface treatment method.

The traction drive 1 comprises a plurality of planetary rollers 7 arranged neighboring one anther around the outer peripheral face of a sun roller 5, and the elastic ring 9 neighboring the planetary rollers 7 for embracing the planetary rollers 7 while thrusting them. The elastic ring 9 has a rolling surface 11 contacting the planetary rollers 7 and both side faces 13 extending from the rolling surface 11 to the radial outside, wherein shot peening is applied and then cavitation shotless peening is applied.
