To provide a train detecting device which can detect the presence of a train on a rail in each section and also can detect the traveling direction of the train.
A train detecting device 1 includes: vibration sensors 3a, 3b, and 3c which measure the vibration of a traveling train, and a detecting means 4 which detects the presence of the train on a rail based on a result of measurement by the vibration sensors 3a, 3b, and 3c. Among the plurality of vibration sensors 3a, 3b, and 3c, at least one sensor is disposed to be positionally shifted in the traveling direction of the train. The detecting means 4 is structured to detect the traveling direction of the train based on output timing patterns of the plurality of vibration sensors 3a, 3b, and 3c.
