To provide train position detecting device and method for detecting the train position with high accuracy by using the acceleration output of an acceleration detecting device when wheels slip and skid in train position detection using the wheel axis speed obtained from rotation of the wheel.
In a position speed computing part 330, according to the speed output of a speed converting processor 11, the acceleration output of an acceleration correcting part 310, and the slip and skid decision output of a slid and skid detecting part 320, during slip and skid, the position of a train is obtained from the acceleration output, and during non-slip and non-skid, the position and speed of the train are obtained from the speed output. When the absolute position is input from an absolute position correcting means 40, the position of the train is corrected by the absolute position of the train.
