Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A trans-4-alkylcyclohexylmethyl-4-(4"-fluorophenyl)phenyl ether expressed by the formula (R is 1W10C alkyl).
EXAMPLE: A trans-4-alkylcyclohexylmethyl-4'-(4"-fluorophenyl) phenyl ether.
USE: A liquid crystal substance exhibiting the positive dielectric anisotropy and the liquid phase to a considerably high temperature and further a wider nematic temperature range.
PROCESS: A 4-fluoro-4'-hydroxybiphenyl is reacted with a trans-1-alkyl-4-α-bromomethylcyclohexane in diethylene glycol monomethyl ether in the presence of NaOH, etc. to give the aimed compound expressed by the formula.
