Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A trans-5-(4-Chlorophenyl)-4-methyl-2-thiazolidone of formulaI.
USE: Useful as an intermediate for preparing compounds having an acaricidal activity.
PROCESS: erythro-2-Amino-1-(4-chlorophenyl)-propyl sulfate of formula II is reacted with carbon disulfide in an organic solvent, e.g. methanol or tetrahydrofuran, in the presence of an acid binder, e.g. potassium hydroxide, to give a trans-5- (4-chlorophenyl)-4-methylthiazoline-2-thione, which is then reacted with an acid binder to afford the compound of formulaI.
