Abstract:
To suppress consumption of a developer of a special color in a transfer device capable of transferring a developer image of the special color in a desired order.SOLUTION: A transfer device comprises a plurality of primary transfer units that has a primary transfer nip to be formed between a primary transfer roller and a photoreceptor via an intermediate transfer belt 2. The transfer device is configured to enable achieving a mode in which an uppermost stream primary transfer unit 201 on an uppermost stream side in a running direction of the intermediate transfer belt 2 of the plurality of primary transfer units transfers a developer of a special color not any color of yellow, magenta, cyan and black, and a mode in which a lowermost stream primary transfer unit 203 on a lowermost stream side therein transfers the developer thereof. The primary transfer roller of the uppermost stream primary transfer unit 201 and the lowermost stream primary transfer unit 203 is provided interchangeably between an abutting position caused to abut with a photoreceptor via the intermediate transfer belt 2 and a separated position apart from the photoreceptor. Only the transfer unit transferring the developer of the special color is arranged in the separated position, and transfers images in a state where other transfer unit is arranged in the abutting position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
