PURPOSE: To make compact and to reduce cost by performing a clamp/unclamp operation and a lift/down operation while moving each nut member close to or away from the point of intersection of a horizontal axial line with a vertical axial line and automatically correcting position deviation due to the circular movement of the top of a link mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: Each screw axis 31, 41, 51 is rotated by each servo motor 34, 44, 54, and each nut member 32, 42, 52 is moved close to or away from the point of intersection Q along the horizontal axial line X1 that is extended in the direction of advance/return movement and the vertical axial line Z1 that is orthogonally crossed with X1. While changing the posture of a four joint link mechanism 60, a feed bar 1F is made to perform the clamp/unclamp operation and the lift/down operation. The four joint link mechanism 60 serves both as a clamp/unclamp driving means and a lift/down driving means. Control means for clamp/unclamp driving and for lift/down driving are composed of CPU and ROM constituting the driving control device of a whole press.
