PURPOSE: To prevent a workpiece from zigzaging to aim at heightening the transferring speed of the workpiece, in a transfer device for transferring works to a machining station, by enabling the transferring pawls of two transfer bars to engage with a workpiece in the same position thereon.
CONSTITUTION: Throughout all machining stations, a first transfer bar 11 having a small pitch transferring stroke and a second transfer bar 12 having a large pitch transferring stroke are transversely laid. The transfer bars 11, 12 are coupled respectively to small and large pitch drive sources 15, 16. Further, the transfer bars 11, 12 are positioned near to each other, and first transfer pawls 13 and second transfer pawls 14 are positioned also near to each other. Further, there is provided an elevating mechanism for simultanously engaging and disengaging both transfer pawls 13, 14 to and from a workpiece W. The small pitch drive source 15 has a crank arm 22 and a first slider 32, and the large pitch drive source 15 has a crank arm 22 and a second slider 34.
