PURPOSE: To provide a surface light emitting device, which has uniform luminance and which can be easily manufactured.

CONSTITUTION: A transfer material 4 for surface light emitting device, which is formed by printing a light scattering and transmitting layer 2 and a side surface reflecting layer 3 on a basic sheet 1 formed at a dimension larger than a light guiding plate and having peeling property, is arranged inside of an injection molding die 8, and after closing the die under the condition that the transfer material 4 for surface light emitting device is arranged along the inner wall surface of the die 8, the melted resin 11 is injected into the die 8, and the resin is solidified. A light guide plate 12 is thereby formed, and at the same time, the light scattering and transmitting layer 2 is adhered to the back surface of the light guide plate 12, and the side surface reflecting layer 3 is adhered to the side surface of the light guide plate 12, and the die 8 is opened. At the same time, or after the opening the die 8, the basic sheet 1 is peeled from the die 8, and a linear light source 13 is arranged in at least one side surface of the side surfaces of the light guide plate 12, to which the side surface reflecting layer 3 is not adhered.
