PURPOSE: To make the relative position between a magnetic head and a magnetic medium on a paper card tally by a method wherein the paper card is pushed against the running surface, on which the paper card runs in an upright posture by being pinchingly supported between one roller made of freely deformable elastic material and the other roller.
CONSTITUTION: When a paper card C is fed by means of a feed roller or the like in an posture upright to a running surface W with mirror-finished surface between the rollers 6 and 8, the roller 6 is put into drive by the detection of the feeding of the paper card in order to drag the paper card in between the rollers 6 and 8. At this time, because of the roller 6 made of freely deformable, the lower peripheral end part 6a, the diameter of which is larger than that of the upper peripheral end part, deforms toward the running surface W or downward while urging the paper card C together with the roller 8, resulting in acting the forward trasferring force and the thrust force against the running surface W to the paper card C. Accordingly, the paper card C goes straight ahead along the running surface W notwithstanding that the paper card C is not provided with any member to support its upper edge C" and the rollers 6 and 8 support and drive only near one side edge in the direction of its width. Consequently, the relative position between the magnetic medium M on the paper card C and the magnetic heat 4 for reading data can be tallied.
