To provide a transfer member and a transfer method for glass substrates which facilitate separation of each glass substrate placed to be erected and lined up.

The transfer member comprises a base member 8 whose upper surface is a bearing surface 3 on which the glass substrates 2 are placed to be erected and lined up, and a supporting member 9 having a sloped surface 5 against which the glass substrates 2 erected on the base member 8 to be lined up on the bearing surface 3 are leaned. The bearing surface 3 is so formed that the upper end 2d of each glass substrate 2, which is leaned against the sloped surface 5 and is lined up on the bearing surface 3, projects upward in a stepped manner as each upper end 2d goes away from the sloped surface 5.
