PURPOSE: To produce a tapered transfer roll having a long life by providing a groove, substantially in the center, on the entire outer circumference of a disklike rubber roll for transferring and fixing disks to both sides of the rubber roll to prevent it from being deformed outward.
CONSTITUTION: When a groove 21 is formed on the circumference of a transfer roll 2, if the width of the surface 1a of a product 1 to which an image is transferred varies individually, the rubber of the roll tends to be fatigued earlier as it repeats transferring, since width-wise force acts on the part of the groove during transferring and cracks may be generated in the vicinity of the grooves. To cope with this, if metal disks 3 are fixed to both sides 2b of the roll, the fatigue of the rubber can be reduced, because the circumference of the roll and its vicinity are not expanded width-wise. The disk 3 is not necessarily made of metal if it has such rigidity that is capable of preventing the rubber roll 2 from being deformed outward. The disk 3 may be fixed by using a bolt 4 and a nut 5, or using any other commonly known method.
