An image forming apparatus is configured to include: a primary transfer roller 22 that comes to contact with the surface of an image holding body via an endless belt member and transfers a toner image formed on the image holding body on a recording medium that is on the endless belt member or conveyed by the endless belt member; and a deformation suppressing member 240 that is provided on both ends of the primary transfer roller 22 along the axial direction and suppresses deformation of the ends of the primary transfer roller 22.
