PURPOSE: To provide a transformer for EL of a clock at low cost without deteriorating magnetic characteristics.

CONSTITUTION: An annular recessed section 11b is formed around the center of a thick discoid ferrite core 11 while notches 11c, 11d passed to the outside from the annular recessed section 11b are formed in the same radial direction as holding the annular recessed sections 11b. Windings 12, 13 are stored in the annular recessed section 11b, and the terminals 12a, 12b, 13a, 13b of the windings 12, 13 are led out to the outside through the notches 11c, 11d. A discoid permalloy plate 14 is superposed on one surface side of the ferrite core 11, thus covering the annular recessed section 11b and the notches 11c, 11d.
