To provide a transformer-type superconducting current limiting device which can avoid the problem of low temperature electrical insulation, freely control and tune a current-limiting operation setup condition and recover a superconductor, from the normal conducting state to the superconducting state, in a short time, even after shifting from a superconducting state to a normal conducting state, to perform a current-limiting operation.
A wire rod connected to a power system is wound on the primary side of the transformer in the normal conducting state. A plurality of one-turn annular wire rods consist of superconducting wire material, and the one-turn annular wire rods in the secondary side of the transformer are alternately connected to each other in a meandering structure, so that the connection points for other one-turn annular wire rods, adjacent to an one-turn annular wire rod become substantially equal distance. The current-limiting operation is performed by a primary side impedance produced in the shifting of the secondary side, from the superconducting state into normal conducting state due to abnormal current in the primary side.
