The transition metal compound is represented by general formula(I)[ wherein, M is a group 3-11 transition metal atom; m is an integer of 1-6; E is a (heteroatom-containing) five- or six-membered cyclic hydrocarbon residue; A is C(R2)(R3), Si(R10)(R11), P(O)(R12), P(R13) or the like; R1, R2, R3, R10 to R13 are each H, a halogen atom, hydrocarbon residue or the like ]. This transition metal compound is made into the olefin polymerization catalyst by combining with an organometallic compound and an activator compound.
