PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a translation support device (similar sentence search device, translation memory) that can simply and inexpensively build up parallel translation information in a parallel translation storage device.
SOLUTION: The parallel translation storage device 2 stores parallel translation information 23 comprising Japanese original sentences 21 and English translated sentences 22 to support translation from Japanese to English, and a search part 11, upon an input of a Japanese search sentence from an input device 3, searches the parallel translation storage device 2 for parallel translation information 23 including an original sentence 21 similar to the search sentence and outputs it to an output device 4. Upon an input of parallel translation information to be registered including only an English translated sentence to be registered from the input device 3, a parallel translation registration part 12 generates a Japanese original sentence to be registered corresponding to the translated sentence to be registered with an English-Japanese machine translation part 13 to complete the parallel translation information, and registers it in the parallel translation storage device 2.
