Abstract:
To provide a transmission belt capable of inhibiting the occurrence of a fatigue failure in a block even when traveling under high-load and high-speed traveling conditions for a long period of time, and a manufacturing method for an insert material for use in the transmission belt.SOLUTION: A transmission belt includes an endless tension belt 2, and a plurality of blocks 10 that are arranged at a predetermined pitch along a longitudinal direction of the tension belt 2 and that have fitting grooves 14 into which the tension belt 2 is fitted. Insert materials 40 made of plate-like metal are embedded in the plurality of blocks 10, respectively. In each of the insert materials 40, at least a traveling direction-side surface of the tension belt 2 is provided with a work-hardened layer 40A.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
