Abstract:

To provide a system and a method using a secondary battery for reducing transmission loss wherein the reserve capacity of a secondary battery on the customer side can be sufficiently and effectively utilized to directly reduce a power flow (active power, reactive power) through a line and thus an electric power system can be efficiently controlled.

A command generator 7 supplies a power command value for reducing a current passed through a line to a controller 6 for controlling a secondary battery 5. The command generator 7 is inputted with: a reactive power value Qdetas an output signal of a power detector 8; an active power value Pdetas an output signal of a power detector 3; and the voltage value Vdetof a distribution line 2 as an output signal of a voltage detector 9. Based on these inputs, the command generator 7 supplies an active power command value Prefand a reactive power command value Qrefto the controller 6. The controller 6 outputs a control signal corresponding to the inputted active power command value Prefand the reactive power command value Qrefand supplies it to the power conversion unit 52 of the secondary battery 5.
