PURPOSE: To provide the transmission type projecting screen having a smooth surface and high durability.

CONSTITUTION: This transmission type projecting screen 16 is constituted of a Fresnel lens 2 which allows the transmission of the light projected from a projector in the direction from a rear surface to a front surface and changes the light to collimated beams of light and a hologram element 14 which is disposed on the front surface side of the Fresnel lens 2 and allows the transmission and diffusion of the collimated beams of light transmitted through the Fresnel lens 2. The thickness of the transmission type projecting screen 16 is reduced and its surface is smoothed by using the hologram element 14 having the function substitutive for the function of the conventional lenticular lenses as compared to such lenticular lenses, thereby, the durability is enhanced.
