Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmitter capable of transmitting a plurality of data strings by using a plurality of hierarchies including an A-hierarchy and a B-hierarchy.
SOLUTION: In each of the plurality of hierarchies, a plurality of carriers having mutually orthogonal frequency relation for every symbol tome are modulated with two or more data strings in the plurality of data strings, and guard time is also provided for every symbol time. The transmitter has one or more modulating parts which changes the number of signal points allocated onto a space diagram for every data string respectively sent in A-hierarchy and B-hierarchy and perform modulation, and an inverse Fourier transformation part for transforming outputs of the modulating parts into a time base by applying inverse Fourier transformation to the outputs of the modulating parts. The 1st data string among data strings transmitted in the A-hierarchy includes demodulation information to demodulate a modulation signal obtained by modulating data strings other than the 1st data string of the A-hierarchy. The B-hierarchy also includes similar demodulation information. The data strings are sent by providing difference between the guard of the A-hierarchy and that of the B-hierarchy.
