Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide the transparent film comprising a copolymer produced from methyl methacrylate, a chlorophenyl acrylate and copolymer and an aromatic polycarbonate, high in the strength, heat resistance, weather resistance and hardness and useful for reflective sheets, etc.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A copolymer and (B) an aromatic polycarbonate are mixed with each other and subsequently press-molded at 250°C into the highly transparent film high in the mechanical characteristics, heat resistance, weather resistance and surface hardness. The copolymer is produced by copolymerizing 50-98wt.% of methyl methacrylate, 2-50wt.% of a monomer of the formula (R us H, methyl; R-R are halogen, or at least one of the R2-R6 is halogen and the others are H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy) (e.g. 2,4,6-tribromophenyl methacrylate), and 0-25wt.% of another copolymerizable α,β-unsaturated monomer (e.g. cyclohexyl methacrylate) are mixed with lauroyl peroxide, n-octyl mercaptan, potassium polymethacrylate and ion exchange water and subsequently copolymerizing the mixture under heating.
