To obtain a precoated stainless steel sheet which makes active use of the surface skin of the stainless steel by blending an ultraviolet absorption agent in a film or a coating so as to prevent a chromium-free organic/inorganic composite film or a transparent fluororesin coating from ultraviolet degradation.

The precoated stainless steel sheet has a transparent fluororesin coating applied on the surface of the stainless steel sheet through a chromium-free organic/inorganic composite film. The organic/inorganic composite film comprises a titanic acid salt and polyvinylphenol as principal constituents, and the transparent fluororesin coating is composed of a mixed coating material of a polyvinylidene fluoride resin and an acrylic resin. A triazine and/or a benzotriazole ultraviolet absorption agent are/is blended in at least one of the organic/inorganic composite film and the fluororesin coating.
