To obtain a soap compsn. which is excellent in transparency, hardness, and foaming properties and can be produced without using ethanol and causing the environmental pollution in production by incorporating anionic surfactants including a higher fatty acid salt and an acylamino acid salt, a polyhydric alcohol, and water in a specified ratio into the same.

This compsn. contains anionic surfactants including a higher fatty acid salt represented by the formula: R1COOM1 (wherein R1 is 7-19C alkyl; and M1 is ammonium, an alkali metal, an alkanolamine, or a basic amino acid) and at least one acylamino acid salt represented by the formula: R2-R3-COOM2 [wherein R2 is 7-17C alkyl; M2 is H, an alkaline earth metal, or M1; and R3 is -CON(CH3)CH2-, -CON(CH3)CH2CH2-, or -CONH(CH2CH2COOM3)CH- (wherein M3 is M2)], a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. glycerin, polyethylene glycol, or sugar), and water in a compounding ratio in the range determined by (2) to (7) in Figure.
