PURPOSE: To improve strength to impact by composing a transparent visual recognition device (window device), suitable for an airplane or the like, of an outer layer, an inner layer facing the outer layer through a space, and a device to maintain gas pressure in the space at a specified value.

CONSTITUTION: An airplane window assembly 10 is provided with a glass layer 12 on the outer side, and an inner layer 14 comprising transparent polycarbonate, and both layers 12, 14 are isolated from each other by a sealing space 16. On both sides of the glass layer 12, installation straps 18, 20 are bound and fixed around an outer circumferential edge 22 of it, an installation block 24 is provided between both straps 18, 20, a shock absorbing block 28 is provided between the installation block 24 and the outer circumferential edge 22 of the glass layer 12, and a seal 30 is provided between the installation strap 20 and the inner layer 14. A bolt 32 is provided penetrating the installation block 24, seal 30, and inner layer 14. Pressure in the space 16 is maintained to be almost equal to airplane cabin pressure by an air bladder device 50.
