To provide a method for protecting a transponder for a tire during vulcanization which makes the information of the transponder storing various kinds of information be surely read and written even after a vulcanization process during the production of the tire and during retreading and a protector for the transponder during vulcanization.
When an unvulcanized tire is vulcanized, or when vulcanization for the retread of a used tire is carried out, the transponder 10 which is set to protrude from the inner surface of the unvulcanized tire is covered to be protected by the protector 20 during vulcanization. The protector 20 is attachable/detachable, has a recess 21 which can include the transponder 10 set to protrude from the inner surface of the tire in a part to be the tire outer surface side when attached, and, in a part to be the tire inner surface side when attached, forms the shape of the surface to be thinned smoothly from the central part toward the edge part in the part.
