Abstract:
PURPOSE: To minimize the number of components and to provide a light-weight inexpensive transponder by respectively generating inclusive and point beams by all the sets of antenna elements or the selected sub-set of the antenna elements. CONSTITUTION: In the case of the inclusive beam, the entire power is supplied through a first band-pass filter 14 along a first passage. Energy is connected to all the elements of the set 26 of the antenna elements by an input coupler 20. When the point beam is desired, a variable power divider 13 is arranged so as to connect a predetermined power part supplied through a phase shift device 15 and a second band-pass filter 16 to the second port of an output coupler 20 along a second passage. Thus, the power is connected only to the sub-set 25 of the antenna elements and the point beam is emitted from them. Thus, without adding the antenna elements or duplexing a multiplexer, this transponder for selectively supplying both of inclusive and point beam cover ranges is obtained.
