A transport device includes: a transport section for transporting continuous form papers P; and an imaging unit 23 which has a light irradiation section 34 capable of irradiating the continuous form papers P transported by the transport section with the light and detects the transport number of the continuous form papers P based on the reflected light when irradiating the continuous form papers P with a light from the light irradiation section 34. The light irradiation section 34 is arranged so that the light is irradiated to the continuous form paper P obliquely to a detection region K of the continuous form paper P from a width direction X of the continuous form paper P orthogonal to a transport direction Y of the continuous form papers P.
