This transportation system is provided with a vehicle 10 provided with a mechanism to adjust the height of a load carrying platform 12, a freight loading section 14 on the load carrying platform 12 of the vehicle 10, and a transshipment section 22 to transship the freight loading section 14. The transshipment section 22 is provided with a vehicle containing space 26 and an engagement rod 28 to support the freight loading section 14. The engagement rod 28 can engage with a recessed section 16 for engaging the freight loading section 14 when the vehicle 10 provided with the load carrying platform 12 at a relatively high place is arranged in the vehicle containing space 26, supports the freight loading section 14 on the vehicle containing space 26 with the freight loading section 14 separated from the load carrying platform 12 when the load carrying platform 12 is displaced in a relatively lower state, and can disengage the engagement with the freight loading section 14 when the load carrying platform 12 is displaced in a relatively higher state, when abutting on the freight loading section 14.
