Abstract:

To provide a travel controller and an electric travel control system for an electric vehicle capable of controlling outputs of a motor, so that a road friction coefficient μ always becomes the maximum value when any of tires slips during traveling such as driving, braking and turning of the vehicle, and obtaining the maximum driving and braking forces of any of the tires.

This travel controller and the electric travel control system for the electric vehicle are used for the electric vehicle which controls electric drive units 8 and 9 of having the motor and drives and brakes wheels 6 and 7. Upon detecting a wheel spin, ESC-CU31 changes the converging slip ratio according to road conditions by executing power running and regenerative control. Then ESC-CU31 calculates the road friction coefficient μ based on electric currents of the motor, and thus ESC-CU31 performs power running and regeneration control on the motor so that the calculated road friction coefficient μ becomes around the maximum value.
