Abstract:
PURPOSE: To lighten the load on the calculation processing of the distance between a vehicle position and a guidance object intersection.
CONSTITUTION: A guidance path search part 15 refers to map data to search for the best guidance path and a node-to-node distance calculation part 16 calculates distances between respective nodes and stores guidance path data including intersection identification flags and node-to-node distance data in a guidance path memory 17. During a travel, a guidance object intersection search part 18 searches for a specific guidance object intersection on the guidance path in front of the vehicle by using the detection position of a vehicle position detection part 3 and the data in the guidance path memory 17 and a distance calculation part 19 calculates the distance between the vehicle position and the 1st node present on the guidance path in front of the vehicle and further adds the respective node-to-node distances from this node to the guidance object intersection to find the distance from the vehicle position and guidance object intersection. Then an intersection guidance image drawing part 20 finds the travel direction at the guidance object intersection and displays intersection travel direction guidance information and vehicle position-guidance object intersection distance information on a screen.
