Abstract:

To provide a traveling control device for a vehicle for reducing driving load of a driver.

This control device controls the magnitude of operation reaction of an operation pedal (an accelerator pedal, for instance) in the vehicle. The control device is provided with an external force estimation/detection means for estimating or detecting external force acting on the vehicle and a pedal reaction characteristic control means for controlling a pedal reaction characteristic of the operation pedal based on the magnitude of the external force estimated or detected by the external force estimation/detection means. The external force estimation/detection means estimates or detects a change of a traveling environment (a road surface state, for instance) for fluctuating a relative positional relation of a vehicle body and the driver as the external force. The pedal reaction characteristic control means controls the pedal reaction characteristic so that increasing gradient of the pedal reaction in relation to pedal opening of the operation pedal may be larger as the magnitude of the external force estimated or detected by the external force estimation/detection means becomes larger.
