To provide a traveling vehicle turning and transferring device between a plurality of rails in which a space part required for transferring a traveling vehicle in a tunnel, a shaft or the like is reduced as much as possible by realizing a substantially S-shaped movable traveling passage for transferring the traveling vehicle when the traveling vehicles in an articulated state are transferred between rail ends of the plurality of rails.
The traveling vehicle returning and transferring device comprises a plurality of fixed rails (3 and 4) having each rail end thereof, a movable truck (20) with a transfer rail (22) of a predetermined length having at least one curved portion of the radius of curvature with a traveling vehicle traveling thereon installed in order to turn and transfer the traveling vehicle (10) from one rail end to the other rail end, and a driving device to reciprocate the movable truck between the first position at which one end of the transfer rail is joined with one rail end (3), and the second position at which one end of the transfer rail is joined with the other rail end (4). The substantially S-shaped curved portion is regulated in a rail area in which one end of the transfer rail is joined with the rail end of each fixed rail at the first and second positions.
