PURPOSE: To manufacture a traveller excellent in wear resistance, toughness, and heat resistance and having long service life, by manufacturing a traveller for spinning machine for use in a fine spinning machine, a yarn twisting machine, etc., by use of a high-carbon alloy steel containing Cr, Mo, W, V, and other elements.

CONSTITUTION: As a material for traveller for spinning machine for use in a fine spinning machine, a yarn twisting machine, etc., the alloy steel which contains 0.7W1.5% C, <0.6% Si, <0.6% Mn, 3W10% Cr, 1W10% W, 1W10% Mo, and 1W7% V or further contains 0.1W1.5% Nb and 0.01W0.2% B, or 1.2W5% Zr and <15% Co and in which components are regulated so that W+2Mo=3W16% is satisfied is used. In this way, a traveller improved in wear resistance by forming fine and uniform double carbides due to the presence of carbide-stabilizing elements such as Cr, Mo, W, V, Nb, Zr, etc., and excellent in heat resistance and toughness can be manufactured.
