Title:
TREATED SEED
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3723596
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide treated seeds which prolong their preservation service life in comparison with the same kind of primed seeds having the practically same moisture content by applying water stress and/or heat treatment to the primed seeds and further drying them back to the desired moisture content as needed.
CONSTITUTION: The non-germinated seed started by an ordinary priming method is applied with water stress and/or heat treatment and further dried back to the desired moisture content as needed. The water stress is applied by slowly drying the primted seeds at 3 to 40°C for 3 to 7 days, for example, and the heat treatment is performed by applying shock to the primed seeds at 25 to 45°C for about 1 to 5 hours.
