Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a treating agent for a fiber enabling various kind of functional finishing by the graft-polymerization on a fiber structure by adding a hydrophilic or hydrophobic polymerizable monomer to a supercritical fluid or a fluid similar thereto.
SOLUTION: This treating agent for a fiber is obtained by adding a hydrophilic or hydrophobic, radically polymerizable monomer such as methacrylic acid and methyl methacrylate, an initiator and a surfactant to a supercritical fluid or a fluid similar thereto, e.g. carbon dioxide. The treating agent can allow a polyester-based fiber structure to be subjected to the graft polymerization finishing without using a carrier.
