PURPOSE: To provide the treating furnace of scrap and the treating method of the same, capable of melting the materials of low-class scrap, such as the scrap of steel sheet and the like for motorcars or electric instruments and the like, simultaneously with a refining treatment of removing impurities (zinc, mangan, phosphorus, sulfur, titanium, vanadium, arsenic and the like, for example) contained in the scraps.
CONSTITUTION: This treating furnace 10 of scrap is constituted of a furnace body 11, having an opening 16, utilized for a material charging port and a product discharging port, at one side and supported so as to be capable of being tilted and rotated at a low speed, an oxygen burner 33 and a refining lance, which are inserted freely into the furnace body 11 through an opening under a condition that the furnace body 11 is installed horizontally. High-grade molten metal is manufactured by using the treating furnace 10 for scraps through melting and refining employing the material of scraps whose principal constituent is iron.
