Abstract:
To provide methods for treating hearing disorder caused by loss of cochlear hair cells in post neonatal mammals.SOLUTION: Disclosed herein is a method for treating hearing loss comprising topically administering a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a Notch inhibitor such as a γ-secretase inhibitor to the ear of a mammal, where the therapeutically effective dose is sufficient to recover hearing at one or more frequencies. The composition is preferably administered to the ear within four weeks, two weeks, one week, or a day after the exposure to the disorder.SELECTED DRAWING: None
