Abstract:
PURPOSE: To perform sterilization without losing bioactivity of lactoferrin useful as food or drug, etc., by adjusting a liquid containing lactoferrin, apolactoferrin or lactoferrin saturated with metal, etc., of a mammal at a specific pH and heating.
CONSTITUTION: A pH of a solution or a slurry containing lactoferrin, apolactoferrin or lactoferrin saturated with metal obtained from colostrum or normal milk of a mammal or skimmed milk as a treated material, or a mixture of said compounds in any mixing method is adjusted at 1.0-6.5 (preferably 2.0-6.0) by using hydrochloric acid or citric acid, etc., and heated at a temperature of 60°C to perform the objective treatment of the lactoferrin.
