To provide a treating method and a treating apparatus for effectively drying or cooling a powder and granular substance.
A drying processing is performed by disposing a distribution plate 2 horizontally in a lower portion of a sealable container 1, and fluidizing a powdered substance in the container 1 with heating gas blown from a lower portion in the container 1, and further feeding heating gas into a cylindrical thermal conductor 4 with upper and lower openings vertically provided in a hollow state in the container 1 while heating the cylindrical conductor 4 to turn and raise the powdered substance in the thermal conductor 4. Furthermore, the thermal conductor 4 is kept at ordinary temperature, and cooling gas is blown into the container 1 and the thermal conductor 4 instead of the heating gas to hereby cool the powdered substance.
