Abstract:
To provide a treatment agent for sulfate pitch produced in a petroleum refining process.
This treatment agent for the sulfate pitch contains gypsum and a neutralizing agent. This treatment agent according to the invention is suitable for a site operation since sulfur dioxide gas generation can be prevented even when the treatment agent is directly mixed with the sulfate pitch. The agent is particularly useful in the treatment of the sulfate pitch illegally discarded. Moreover, since the resultant treatment product is muddy, the workability in carrying and charging the treated material into an incinerator after the treatment is enhanced and the resultant treated material having excellent safety can be obtained easily.
