Abstract:

To solve the problem of deformation of a reaction product by heat of reaction during treatment and the problem that it takes a long time for the treatment owing to a large quantity of foams by hydrogen generation in the case a hydrogen-containing substance such as water is used as an oxide in the treatment carried out by the reaction using an alkali metal as one reaction agent and oxidation of the alkali metal contained in the treated reaction liquid for alkali metal removal.

The subject treatment apparatus comprises a mechanism for introducing an alkali metal-containing liquid or an oxide substance after reaction into a treatment tank by spraying or in the form of a fine stream; a stirring mechanism for defoaming and mixing; a mechanism for detecting the temperature alteration in the treatment tank caused by reaction of the alkali metal-containing liquid and an oxide substance; and a temperature control mechanism capable of adjusting the temperature in the treatment tank. Accordingly, the temperature can be controlled at the time of the treatment and the time taken for defoaming can be shortened. As another method, the similar effect can be achieved by installing a pipe for adding the oxide substance by joining the pipe to a tubular part led from a reaction part.
